Knife
Woodcutting Axe
Pickaxe
Hammer
Raw Meat
 
The Basics:
Remember all items require smithing too: Cut down your selected tree, then use a knife with the logs and make a stock. Go and get your metal. Smith it into limps (anvil). Then kill a cow and take the meat. Cook it on a range to make sinew. Spin the sinew to make crossbow string.
 
Use the stock with the metal and the 'crossbowstring with the crossbow (u)'.

String:
To make crossbow string, use your meat with a stove and cool it into a sinew. Spin the sinew on a spinning wheel. You will now have a spinned sinew. Use it with the crossbow.
